We've been hard at work for the past year putting together the next phase of Cantora. To kick things off we'd like to introduce a new member to the family: Cantora Labs.
For now, we must keep a lid on the details, what we can say is that it is a first-of-its-kind venture poised to connect the music ecosystem (fans, artists, and businesses) with the emerging ecosystem of music tech startups. Technology changed music forever in year 2000. In year 2011, we are going to return the favor. We are not evangelists for the future of this music industry. We believe in shaping a new music industry, with new rules, new players, above all -- a new ethos. Over the years we have met many folks with a common vision. Join us. Music and tech will be one.
Visit the Cantora Labs site to sign up for announcements -- we will be rolling out details over the coming months.
To coincide with the introduction of Cantora Labs we are throwing a 2-day music + tech concert experience like no other at CMJ 2011.
Cantora Labs, in association with smartwater®, is proud to announce the smartlounge at CMJ 2011. An event bridging the gap between music and tech by fusing the two in an entirely unprecedented, totally immersive physical and digital live music lounge.
Featuring performances from Dum Dum Girls (Acoustic), Dom, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ill Fits, Small Black, AraabMuzik, The Stepkids, Slam Donahue, Little Red, and Gotye, and interactive turntable.fm DJ sets from Ayad of Passion Pit, Nancy from LCD Soundsystem, Amrit from Stereogum, Andy Rourke of The Smiths, Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures, Talib Kweli, Naveen Selvadurai from Foursquare and more!
Unique interactive products from our partners at Spotify, turntable.fm, Sonic Notify, exfm, Milk Made, Soundcloud, FanBridge, ReverbNation, 8Tracks, Root Music, OK Venue, Gobbler, Root Music, and Plus Music will power the process of showing attendees how tech can enrich their music experience.
